Ceragon IP-50CX - Compact All-Outdoor Dual-Core Microwave Radio

6-42 GHz, Dual-Core, 25GbE Interfaces, Up to 6.5 Gbps

The IP-50CX combines the compact form factor and cost efficiency of the IP-20C with the capacity and flexibility of the IP-50C. For networks that don't require the full 8 Gbps capability of the larger IP-50C, but need more than a basic single-core radio can deliver, the IP-50CX occupies a practical middle ground - substantial capacity in a smaller, more economical package.

The dual-core architecture allows a single radio to scale from basic 1+0 access links to 4+0 high-capacity configurations using layer-1 carrier bonding. With support for 224 MHz channel bandwidth, the IP-50CX can transfer up to 4 Gbps from a single unit. But wide channels aren't only about maximum throughput - they also provide flexibility in how capacity and availability are balanced. Using a 224 MHz channel at lower modulation delivers the same capacity as a narrower channel at higher modulation, but with improved fade margin and availability. This means better link performance without increasing antenna size.

The 25GbE (SFP28) interface is a notable addition compared to earlier Ceragon all-outdoor radios. Direct 25GbE connectivity eliminates the need for rate adapters when connecting to modern routers and switches, simplifying installation and reducing potential failure points.

The compact design also brings practical deployment benefits. The smaller, lighter form factor simplifies tower installation, reduces space requirements on the mast, and lowers power consumption compared to larger alternatives. These factors contribute to reduced total cost of ownership over the lifetime of the link.

Software-based capacity activation means the IP-50CX supports incremental investment. A link can be deployed initially with a single active core, with the second core enabled remotely when traffic growth justifies the upgrade. Channel bandwidth can also be expanded via software if regulatory conditions permit, providing multiple paths to increased capacity without physical site visits.
