The TEKTELIC KONA Macro Ex is a carrier-grade LoRaWAN® gateway certified for deployment directly inside ATEX Zone 1 hazardous areas where combustible gases, vapours, or dusts may be present. The gateway eliminates the need for third-party Exd enclosures with their associated cost, additional certifications, and pre-assembly lead times — while also avoiding the coverage compromises of placing standard gateways outside the hazardous zone.
The gateway features TEKTELIC's custom-designed ATEX enclosure optimised for airflow and heat dissipation, combined with integrated highly selective cavity bandpass filters and an enhanced low-noise radio architecture. This carrier-grade design delivers 850,000 hours MTBF and supports 16 receive channels with 2 transmit channels in Time Duplex mode, providing the capacity and reliability required for large-scale industrial monitoring deployments in refineries, chemical plants, pipelines, and mining operations.
